Softball Coaches Poll for June 11
The top 11 remain the same with only a little shifting around. In fact the top 25 only had 1 change all together with Rutgers joining the ranks and ERAU dropping out.
The big mover this week was North Carolina, who jumped up 7 spots to #12. Every other team remained within 4 spots of their ranking from last week's poll.
Rank School Points (1st) LW
1. Penn State (5) 442 1
2. Maryland (5) 420 2
3. Georgetown (3) 402 3
4. American (2) 371 5
5. Virginia Tech (3) 363 6
6. Ohio 322 7
7. Richmond 319 4
8. Georgia (1) 317 8
9. James Madison 295 9
10. Minnesota 282 11
11. Wisconsin 228 10
12. North Carolina 220 19
13. Cornell 205 12
14. William & Mary 190 16
15. Illinois 185 15
16. Michigan 181 13
17. Dayton 177 20
18. Central Florida 166 14
19. Emory 163 17
20. Villanova 150 22
21. Vanderbilt 82 25
22. Texas A&M 77 24
23. Wake Forest 73 23
24. Rutgers 63 NR
25. LSU 58 21
Dropped out: Embry-Riddle
Also receiving votes: Embry-Riddle 57, Auburn 34, Boston College 33, Xavier 28, Boston 26, Miami (OH) 22, Clemson 21, Florida 21, Pittsburgh 19, Massachusetts 17, Virginia 16, Arizona State 15, Navy 15, Carnegie Mellon 14, Yale 12, Colorado 9, Duke 9, Nebraska 8, Texas 8, Cal 7, Indiana 6, Notre Dame 6, Purdue 5, Tufts 5, West Virginia 4, Syracuse 3, Bucknell 1, Ohio State 1, Stanford 1, Tulane 1
Teams that voted: American, Arizona, **Auburn, Boston, Cornell, Emory, Georgetown, LSU, Minnesota, Navy, Ohio, Ohio State, Richmond, Rutgers, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Wisconsin, Xavier, *Yale
* Yale's vote was determined to be invalid as they only voted for one team: Georgia and gave them -1000 points. Plus the vote came from George Bush (not sure which one), but I am pretty sure that I never emailed the form to either of them to vote. Had this vote counted, Georgia would have set a record for dropping 64 spots in one week.
** Auburn's vote was also determined to be invalid (although once again clever and funny) as they based their rankings on the top 25 schools most likely to drop the arts:
1. Cal
2. Virginia Tech
3. South Carolina
4. Purdue
5. Iowa
6. Embry-Riddle
7. Auburn
8. Arizona State
9. Central Florida
10. Georgia Tech
11. Maryland
12. Navy
13. Nebraska
14. Texas A&M
15. Xavier
16. Utah
17. Rutgers
18. Ohio State
19. Penn State
20. North Carolina
21. LSU
22. Johns Hopkins
23. Illinois
24. Indiana
25. Florida

Re: Softball Coaches Poll for June 11
I can't really picture Berkeley dropping the arts...
P.S. Is there a reason that we switched from the main TS board to the Numbers and Stats one?

Figured it had to do with numbers more thank trash talking... should it be moved back?

Re: Softball Coaches Poll for June 11
Well, it's always been in the main board, so that's probably where most people will think to look for it. But that's not necessarily reason enough to move it back.

I don't know why there are two forums to begin with; I doubt there are people who are exclusively interested in one board and not the other.

Re: Softball Coaches Poll for June 11
What happened to OhYouAteOneToo? Wasn't he running this jam? Cause (no offense longshanks) his write-ups seemed to have a little more zip to them... Mostly dogging on my team, but whatever :-)
Also why are we invalidating Auburn's vote? Doesn't seem like their points are going to change much in the poll, but at least they took the time to vote. Cal should get bumped to the top of the 'also receiving votes' list with their votes!

yeah, my writing sucks... I'm more of a numbers guy... I'll just give yall the numbers and let you add the zip to them
Since Auburn is making a different poll each week, we are seperating them out.

I agree that Auburn's vote should count.
